An oil boiler, propane furnace or wood stove can stay, though fossil-fuel equipment counts only as emergency backup. Dual-fuel systems do not qualify, and a multi-zone outdoor unit earns no rebate by itself even though its capacity counts toward the total. Because Raymond has no gas distributor on the state's list, the rule excluding homes that previously had a natural-gas account rarely comes into play.

Each rebate-eligible single-zone outdoor unit brings $3,000 if your household qualifies as low income, $2,000 at the moderate tier, or $1,000 regardless of income, and a housing unit can collect at most $9,000, $6,000 or $3,000 respectively over its lifetime.
